You know those kiddy rides at the fair that have either cars or motorcycles and the kids get in and ride around in a circle? The kids ride those and think they are so fun, they ring the bell or honk the horn and it’s fantastic but when they get off the are still in the same place they started. As adults we go back and look at those rides and think wow that looks really boring. What we don’t realize is that a lot of the time that is exactly what we are doing in our lives. We run around day after day going in circles. We go through our live going round and round in our jobs pretending we are getting somewhere honking our horns and saying ” look at me. Look at me “. When we finally take a look around we see that we are in the same place and all that running around didn’t get us anywhere. Maybe it’s time to get off the ride and take a look around. Time to find that thing you’ve been looking for but couldn’t see because you were too busy spinning round. Time to use your own muscles to move you in the direction you want to go. Time to start building again.
I have been uninspired to write on my blog the past few days. So I figured the best way to get inspired is to write something. As I was thinking about what to write I found a painting that a friend of mine had posted on Facebook. That made me start thinking how life is like a piece of art. Most of the time you don’t know what you will end up with when you start. You might have a plan for what you think you want it to look like, but rarely does it look exactly like what you envisioned. Just like the artist mixes paints to find just the right shade, sometimes we have to mix things up and get a new perspective. Life is not a paint by number set that should look like everyone else’s when your done. Life is a blank canvas wide open for you to put your strokes on. Just like the artist it takes time and persistence to create something beautiful. When we try and it fails we can take that and learn from it. Go forward and try again or change thing up and try something new altogether. The point is to keep going and making new things. Creating is the obligation of the creators. Go out and make your life your art. We can all do that.

So I’ve been writing this blog which for me is a something completely new. But that was not enough. I have just started learning Spanish using duolingo.com I love this program it makes learning a game. It is my belief that we should learn something each day. If you don’t continue to feed your mind it will die just like anything else. I’ve found that just trying to do something new helps my mood and outlook on life. It is hard to find yourself trapped if you are continually learning new ways to free your mind. When you learn something new that is just another thing you can pass on to those around you. So go out and find something new and learn one thing about it. That thing you thought was too hard doesn’t look so bad if you take it one step at a time. There is only one way to eat an elephant. One bite at a time.
When is the last time you stopped to play a game? How long has it been since you took time out of your day to laugh and play? If you cant remember you’re not the only one. A lot of us are so concerned about paying the bills and keeping up with the neighbors that we don’t remember to look around and enjoy life. As children our whole world was a game. We played at school. We played when we got home, and when we had to go to bed we hid under the covers and played until we fell asleep. So when did we stop playing and why?
Studies have show that people who play games do better socially ,emotionally, and economically. We learn how to interact with each other through play. We learn how to solve problems through play. Our minds are improved by the problems we have to solve when we play. So why is there such a negative connotation to playing? Why is play looked down upon as a waste of time? How much more productive would our business’ be if we were allowed time to play, to let our brains wander relax and reset.
The opposite of play is not work. The opposite of play is depression. A world without play would be lifeless, dull and without color. To play is to explore the world around us. To find out it’s limits and more importantly to find ours. So i implore you go out today and just PLAY!!!
There is only one you. So you are the only one that can do what you can do. Others might try to do the same thing as you, but only you can do it the way you do. The thing that makes each of us so great is that we are all one of a kind. No one can do the things we do exactly the way we do it we are all unique. Embrace that fact let that sink in. No one ever created thinks quite the way you do. No one see things the way you do. You are special. You are a snowflake. We can let our differences separate us; or we can take another look and see that we are all different which gives us something in common. Don’t let others tell you what you should be, you are not a square peg in a round hole. Each hole is custom made and we must each fit where we belong. So go out and do what only you can do!
I just watched a movie called ” I Am” . It is all about what is wrong with the world and what can we do about it. I think this is an amazing movie that goes to the heart of where we as people have gone off track. We have forgotten that we are all connected in some way and that it is more beneficial for all of us to take care of one another. Take care of the weak and wounded you never know when you will be one of them. We run around trying to get more for ourselves when we could be thinking of ways that we could give more to others; Helping each other lifting each other up.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right. Henry Ford
You don’t have to wait until you’re finished getting better to start helping others. You might think how can I help anyone else? I am still stuck struggling with the same problems. Don’t you see that is just the place to start . You are in the perfect spot to identify with those around you that need help. Who better to understand the problems people have than one of the people dealing with that same problem. Even one step higher is a step up. And where you fail is where you find grace. Those you help may turn right around and lift you up. Together holding each other up and rising above the problems you once thought would hold you in the mire forever. Helping others become their best is one of the quickest ways to become your best. We need to look up for those who can help us up, but also remember to look down for those we can help up. Sometimes they might just be the same person.
What is holding you back from what you can become? Is it you surroundings? Is it those around you? Look closely it might just be you. More than likely it is how you think about yourself and what you are capable of. The lack of belief in your abilities is one of the major causes of your own failure. Change the way you look at yourself and start believing of the things that are inside. Find what is inside and bring it out to show the world. The world is waiting for you to bring what is real inside you out for them. There might not be an explosion of fire works and a parade, but the world needs what is true in you.
